How to Tell the Difference Between an EU Ceiling Box and an LK PL Ceiling Box
By Christian · 4 November 2026
When it comes to ceiling outlets and light fixture mounting boxes, it can be a little more difficult to tell the difference.
The easiest way to identify the box type is to measure the screw spacing used to mount devices or fixtures to the box.
Danish Ceiling Box (LK PL)
A Danish ceiling box typically:
- Often has a metal mounting ring inside
- Is used in many older and newer Danish homes
- Has a 55 mm screw spacing
(Shown here: an LK PL ceiling box.)
EU Ceiling Box
An EU ceiling box typically:
- Is round in shape
- Follows the same principle as EU wall boxes
- Has a 60 mm screw spacing
(Shown here: a standard EU ceiling box from KAISER.)
